This project was for the replacement of the Rosemont Avenue Bridge over Darby Creek with construction of a single span, composite pre-stressed concrete spread box beam bridge on spread footings.

This project included the replacement of Street Road Bridge over the Brandywine Creek and replacement of an existing under-designed large diameter pipe with a double cell precast arch structure at Radley Run in Chester County, PA State Route 926 Section 53S.

This project, located on US Route-209 over Appenzell Creek in Stroudsburg, PA, involved a very high-speed traffic situation, where two merge zones of 2 lanes each merge into one 2-lane work zone.

This project’s purpose was to remedy an extremely difficult traffic situation and included the replacement of the existing structure carrying US 422 over Laurel Run with a precast reinforced box culvert as well as additional paving and other miscellaneous construction.

Pymatuning Reservoir Dam

Clearwater was contracted by the PA DCNR to rehabilitate the dam and gatehouse at Pymatuning State Park. Pymatuning State Park is the largest state park in Pennsylvania, covering more than 21,000 acres in Crawford County. It is also home to the largest lake in the Commonwealth, the Pymatuning Lake.

Utilizing pipe boring to maintain stream flow without disrupting traffic, Clearwater built a drilled caisson shoring wall, alleviating the need for additional roadway excavation in a tight, high-speed traffic situation.

This project included the total replacement of a decaying two-span bridge over Pocono Lake Preserve in Monroe County. Due to a June 3rd NASCAR event at the Pocono Raceway, the June 1st Phase 1 completion date was of paramount importance.

This project was an emergency landslide remediation for UGI Energy Services and PennDOT. Clearwater Geotechnical acted as the specialty Geotechnical subcontractor to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc., and successfully arrested and stabilized the landslide via installation of a 2500 sf soil nail wall including 102 soil nails utilizing the Williams Geo-Drill Injection Anchor System.

This project was a complete superstructure replacement with concrete repairs to the substructure units. Clearwater installed new drainage, concrete curb and sidewalk along with new asphalt approach roadways on both sides of the new bridge.

Sugar Hollow Creek Bridge

This project consisted of the removal and replacement of the Sugar Hollow Creek Bridge over State Route 3011 in Monroe County, PA. The precast box used on this project was the heaviest box set in PennDOT history, a 450-ton crane was used to set the sections.

George C. Platt Memorial Bridge

George C. Platt Memorial Bridge

Clearwater partnered with a painting contractor to perform this $52M rehabilitation of the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge for PennDOT from 2011 to 2014. Opened to traffic in 1951, the Platt Bridge is a through truss bridge that carries 56,000 vehicles per day on State Route 291 over the Schuykill River.

All micropiles were installed complete in 3 weeks up to a depth of 75 feet enabling the general contractor to accelerate their schedule.

This project included the replacement of a deteriorated 3-span bridge with a new single span structure over the Ghost Town Bike Trail, which is the former RJ Corman RR Rail bed.

The project included the replacement of the existing bridge carrying State Route 0895 over the Schuylkill River and re-alignment of the roadway approaches.

Cold Springs Bridge Replacement

In May 2014, Clearwater was awarded this $3.4M contract for the removal and replacement of an existing structure over Cold Springs Creek in Whitehall Township by PennDOT. This project began with the demolition of an existing 5 span, open-spandrel reinforced concrete arch structure and the installation of 4 temporary shoring systems.

Mill Street Bridge

Clearwater was awarded the $3.2M partial design/build contract for the replacement of the historic South Mill Street Bridge over Neshannock Creek in the city of New Castle. PennDOT directed the replacement of the 95-year-old structure due to safety and structural concerns in 2013.

This $4M project was for the restoration of this historically significant, single-span steel thru-truss structure carrying Hickory Street over the Stonycreek River in the City of Johnstown.
